On March 21, the subject performance evaluation meeting of the project (2019YFC1710500) of the "Demonstration Research for Targeted Poverty Alleviation through Standardized Planting of High-quality Authentic Traditional Chinese Medicinal Materials Produced in Fujian including Ganoderma and Pseudostellaria heterophylla" belonging to the key special project of "Research on Modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine" under the National Key Research and Development Program was successfully held in the headquarters of GanoHerb Group. This project headed and undertaken by GanoHerb was rated as "excellent" in this subject performance evaluation.

The expert group responsible for subject performance evaluation is composed of 7 technical experts, of which Professor Shilin Yang from Guangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is the leader of the expert group. More than 30 people, including researcher Xiaobo Sun of the Institute of Medicinal Plant Development, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, deputy director Lei Li of the Social Development Division of the Fujian Provincial Science and Technology Department, chairman Ye Li of GanoHerb Group, project leaders, subject leaders, project backbones and financial management personnel attended the meeting.

At the meeting, researcher Jin Lan from the Institute of Medicinal Plant Development, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, researcher Jingying Chen from the Institute of Agricultural Biological Resources, Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, chief engineer Changhui Wu from GanoHerb Technology (Fujian) Corporation, Associate Researcher Yun Luo, Institute of Medicinal Plant Development, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and Associate Professor Wen Xu, Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, made key reports on five respects including the subject overview, overall completion, important progress and highlights, organizational implementation and funding execution according to the performance evaluation requirements of the subject.

Associate Professor Wen Xu from Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine made a subject report.

After listening to the reports of various subject groups, reviewing relevant materials, and inquiring and discussing relevant issues, the expert group agreed that the various subjects of the project had met all the requirements of the assessment indicators, affirmed innovative breakthroughs made in the fields of key core technology research on germplasm resources of Ganoderma and Pseudostellaria heterophylla, standardized planting for demonstration and promotion, and quality traceability system construction, and agreed that the project has passed the subject performance evaluation.

This project is the first key special project of "Research on Modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine" under the National Key Research and Development Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology undertaken by Fujian Province. The approval of this project means that the research on varieties of Ganoderma and Pseudostellaria heterophylla in this field has risen to the level of national guidance. Since the project was launched in 2019, the project team has built the largest Ganoderma/Pseudostellaria heterophylla germplasm resource bank in China, preserving 550 germplasm resources of Ganoderma and 248 germplasm resources of Pseudostellaria heterophylla, forming a progressive cycle pattern of good variety - good land - good method - good medicine, driving the innovation chain with the industrial chain, ensuring high quality with high standards, achieving remarkable social and economic benefits, and providing core technical support for the green development of the industry of traditional chinese medicinal materials.

Researcher Xiaobo Sun suggested that the project team should continue to strengthen the construction of the quality evaluation and guarantee system for high-quality traditional Chinese medicinal materials.

The successful completion of the project marks a new model for the standardized planting of high-quality authentic traditional Chinese medicinal materials in Fujian Province. In the next step, GanoHerb Group, the undertaker, will take this opportunity to cooperate with project partners to continue joint innovation, accelerate the transformation of project achievements, and make greater contributions to the high-quality development of the industry of traditional Chinese medicinal materials and rural revitalization.
