Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is not only the cultural treasure of the Chinese people but also an important part of the global health and the comprehensive health industry. In China’s “13th Five-Year Plan”, the modern study of the TCM has been listed as an important development project of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China also clearly mentioned that “we will support both traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine, and ensure the preservation and development of traditional Chinese medicine”. Traditional Chinese Medicine has ushered in an unprecedented development room.

In the context of the rise of traditional Chinese medicine as a national strategy, the project (No. 2019YFC1710500) titled “Demonstration study on standardized cultivation of high-quality authentic traditional Chinese medicinal materials produced in Fujian including Ganoderma lucidum and Pseudostellaria heterophylla and precision poverty alleviation” was officially approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology on December 23, 2019. It belongs to the key special project of “Research on the Modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine” under China’s key development plan.

On November 2019, the project team made an open video reply in Fujian Provincial Department of Science and Technology.

The scientific research team made up of 66 persons strived to make a technological breakthrough.

The key special projects of "Research on Modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine" mainly include three major areas: prevention and treatment of major diseases by traditional Chinese medicine, treatment of disease before it arises, and development and quality control of traditional Chinese medicine, involving the inheritance and innovation of traditional Chinese medicine, prevention and treatment of major diseases by traditional Chinese medicine, and guarantee of traditional Chinese medicine resources, scientific and technological demonstration of the traditional Chinese medicine health industry, internationalization of traditional Chinese medicine, and inheritance and innovation of ethnic minority medicine. It represents the highest level in the field of traditional Chinese medicine research and plays a leading and exemplary role in the traditional Chinese medicine industry.

The above-mentioned approved project was undertaken by GanoHerb Technology (Fujian) Co., Ltd. The project leader is Researcher Lan Jin of the Institute of Medicinal Plant Development (IMPLAD) of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS), who organized a research team made up of 66 persons respectively from the ten units including the IMPLAD of the CAMS, the Institute of Chinese Materia Medica of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, Fujian Medical University, and Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. This project gained the support of Fujian Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Nanping Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and Nanping City People's Government, Nanping Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, Pucheng County Committee of the Communist Party of China and Pucheng County People's Government as well as Director Sun Xiaobo’s team of the IMPLAD of the CAMS. With the joint efforts and cooperation of the project team, it took more than ten months to finally get the project approved.

The industry-university-research cooperation enabled the realization of high quality with technology.

Over the past ten years, GanoHerb has been closely cooperating with the IMPLAD of the CAMS in scientific and research respects, commonly devoting to the research of the space culture of Reishi mushroom. The space Reishi culture has been cultivated in GanoHerb plantation since 2017, which laid a solid foundation for this project approval. The successful approval of this project is a response to the national call for self-innovation and development of authentic medicinal materials and also a strategic activity to promote the integrative development of the Chinese medicinal industry. It fully exhibits the innovation mode characterized by the combination of the enterprise subject, market orientation and industry-university-research cooperation.

It is reported that by optimizing germplasm resources, establishing a high-quality evaluation system of Ganoderma lucidum, establishing a standardized organic planting technology of Ganoderma lucidum and a quality traceability system of the whole chain, this project can open up the innovation chain of Ganoderma lucidum industry and enable the realization of the "high quality" of Ganoderma lucidum products. Taking this opportunity, GanoHerb will rely on the academician and expert team as the technical support, pay more attention to scientific and technological research and development, comprehensively develop industry-university-research cooperation research, strengthen refined management, and continuously improve the "full industry chain" operation model, optimize the industrial layout and expand the development space to give full play to the core competitive advantages of "GanoHerb" technology and brand, to comprehensively enhance the comprehensive strength of the enterprise, to build the first brand of "organic Ganoderma" in "GanoHerb" and to repay the market and consumers with high-quality Ganoderma products.

The “Research on Modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine” project is the national key R & D project undertaken by GANOHERB after the National Spark Program in 2008 and the International Cooperation Project led by the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2013.
