The Bagging Fireflies Plan for Fujian Nanping Area is initiated by Cancer Foundation of China, jointly hosted by Cancer Foundation of China, Pucheng County Committee of the CPC and Pucheng County People's Government and exclusively undertaken by Fujian Xianzhilou Biological Science and Technology Co., Ltd. On August 8, the plan formally started. As the second Bagging Fireflies Plan carried out in Fujian, it was highly supported by Fujian Provincial Poverty Alleviation and Development Association, Fujian Provincial Talent Introduction Service Center and Nanping Municipal Poverty Alleviation and Development Association.

 

 

In the afternoon, President Zhao Ping of Cancer Foundation of China, Executive Vice President Wang Min of Fujian Provincial Poverty Alleviation and Development Association, Deputy Director Zhao Yongli of Fujian Provincial Talent Introduction Service Center, President Liu Guiqing of Nanping Poverty Alleviation and Development Association, Secretary Zhou Yonghe of CPC Pucheng County Committee, President Li Ye of GANOHERB Group (Ganoderma Manufacturing Enterprise) and the 13 college students receiving financial aids and their family representatives attended the kick-off meeting. The opening session was presided over by Deputy Secretary Liu Jianping of CPC Pucheng County Committee.

Falling into poverty because of illnesses and returning to poverty due to illness are important reasons for many families to fall into poverty. Cancer worsens the economic situation of poor families. The opportunity for students from poor families to receive higher education is an important way to achieve social equity and an effective way for poor families to get rid of poverty.

In the speech, Zhou Yonghe, Secretary of CPC Pucheng County Committee, expressed his gratitude for the establishment of the "Bagging Fireflies Plan" in Nanping and stressed that Pucheng will take this opportunity to innovate education-oriented poverty alleviation model and promote the development of Pucheng poverty alleviation. He hoped that GANOHERB Technology will further develop the role of the leading enterprises in the Lingzhi industry by mobilizing more caring enterprises and social forces to jointly help poverty alleviation and development, education and rural revitalization in Pucheng.

After announcing the "Funding Measures for Bagging Fireflies Plan", Zhao Yongli, Deputy Director of the Fujian Provincial Talent Introduction Service Center, said that the "Bagging Fireflies Plan" is an innovative project of "Introducing and Cultivating Talents + Accurate Poverty Alleviation". We will try our best to promote the implementation of the "Bagging Fireflies Plan" in the whole Fujian province to help more college students from poor cancer families to successfully complete their education. At the same time, we will strive to serve the new Fujian construction by continuing to track the cultivation of talents and conduct "attracting phoenix to the nests" service.

At the event, Li Ye, President of GANOHERB Group, donated RMB100,000 yuan to the charity fund. Zhao ping, Chairman of Cancer Foundation of China, presented the public welfare certificate to GANOHERB, thanking it for its great support to the "Bagging Fireflies Plan".

After the opening session, the participants went to visit GANOHERB Industrial Park. At the GANOHERB Ganoderma Amboinense poverty alleviation workshop, President Li Ye introduced the relevant knowledge of Ganoderma to the students and inquired them of their majors and welcomed them to work in GANOHERB after finishing school. Deputy Director Zhao Yongli said that in addition to donating scholarships, GANOHERB will also provide internships and employment opportunities for the students in order to truly help them get rid of poverty.

According to reports, the "Bagging Fireflies Plan" comes from the idiom story "Lighting up books with bagged fireflies." In the Jin Dynasty, Che Yin was poor and could not afford lamp oil to read at night. So he put dozens of living fireflies in a white gauze bag and hung the bag on the top of the book. In this way, he could read with faint light and finally learned something. The program targets students of poor cancer families and offers them a cash grant of 500 to 800 yuan per person per month during college.

Up to now, the "Bagging Fireflies Plan" has received charity donations from social enterprises, experts, scholars, caring netizens and folks from all walks of life and raised a donation of 1.818 million yuan. There are 182 students funded by this plan. Among them, 60 college students have successfully completed their studies and started their own jobs. They are changing their own destiny through their own efforts, reversing the plight of the family and becoming the "locomotive" to help their families get rid of poverty and become better-off.
