Information

Being infected with HIV is not equal to getting AIDS.

Do you remember when you were a child, you got a vaccination every once in a while? Its main purpose is to stimulate the immune system through vaccines and prepare antibodies in advance to deal with viral infections that may cause serious illness. But there are many kinds of virulent viruses that are highly infectious, and every once in a while a new one comes to us. In addition, the mutation of old viruses can disturb social peace, and their strong opponent is a vaccine that will take years of research and development before it is ready for mass production. How can humans cope with these viruses in time? What really keeps you and me safe is the strain capacity of the immune system, in addition to the fact that we try to avoid infection.

Among all emerging viruses, HIV is very tricky because it attacks the immune cells that protect the body. Other causes of death due to viral infections are due to excessively intense immune response, but HIV will make us lose immunity.

All immune cells with "CD4 molecular markers on the cell surface", including the immune sentinel "macrophage" and the commander-in-chief "helper T cell", are HIV targets.

However, it is not that once a patient is infected with HIV, the condition will be so serious. The CD4 cells of the patient must fall below 200 per cubic millimeter (this value should be 400 to 1,200 for normal men and 500 to 1,600 for normal women), or the patient has been diagnosed with an AIDS-related malignant tumor or infection by a doctor. When one of these two conditions is established, the patient will be formally pronounced as "Getting AIDS". Prior to this, patients could only be called "HIV-infected people" or "HIV carriers."

So even if you have been infected with HIV, if you can maintain enough CD4 cells, you can still be a "healthy carrier", and you can even keep yourself close to the health status of ordinary people. For the same reason, as long as the number of CD4 cells does not fall too fast, the AIDS patients can maintain a better and longer life.

Polysaccharides protect immune cells while triterpenes inhibit HIV.

In 1987, when the anti-tumor efficacy of Ganoderma lucidum was just confirmed, the first report on the treatment of AIDS with Ganoderma lucidum also appeared: doctors from Taiwan's former Veterans General Hospital reported in a United States medical meeting that a patient with AIDS had restored his working ability after taking a prescription based on Ganoderma lucidum ingredients for a year. In contrast, other patients who developed the same disease at the same time died. Before the advent of HAART, this reishi experience was particularly special.

In 2009, at the fifth international congress on medicinal fungi, doctors from Zambia reported that nearly 200 people with HIV and AIDS had been using Ganoderma lucidum for a year. About two-thirds of the HIV carriers did not develop the disease; as for AIDS patients who have already started HAART therapy, not only does the rate of virus proliferation slow down significantly but also the number of CD4 cells, liver function and related blood indexes significantly improved.

Tanzanian scholars reported the results of their collaboration with Guangdong Institute of Microbiology: 58 AIDS patients treated with antiviral drugs, 23 of which were additionally treated with Ganoderma lucidum extract, and the number of CD4 cells (186 per cubic millimeter) was significantly higher than those using only Western medicine (109 cells per cubic millimeter), bodyweight recovered more, hemoglobin concentration associated with anemia was significantly higher, liver function damage, side effects and opportunistic infections were significantly lighter or reduced.

Obviously, Ganoderma lucidum can help HIV carriers to delay the onset of the AIDS; for AIDS patients, Ganoderma lucidum can improve the efficacy of Western medicine and reduce side effects. The reason why Ganoderma lucidum is effective is that Ganoderma lucidum polysaccharides can enhance immune function and promote immune cell proliferation while Ganoderma triterpenes can inhibit HIV proliferation and control the number of viruses.

In addition, for the "enterovirus type 71" that may cause severe encephalitis and myocarditis, the "human herpesvirus type 4 (EB virus)" that may cause nasopharyngeal cancer or lymphoma, the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) that may cause cervical cancer, Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) that can cause blisters in the affected area, hepatitis B virus and so on, Ganoderma lucidum triterpenes also have the effect of weakening virus activity and inhibiting virus proliferation.

In addition to HIV, German and Japanese scientists have repeatedly proved that Ganoderma lucidum triterpenoids can also inhibit milder influenza B virus and highly aggressive influenza A virus (such as H1N1, H5N1 and H1N1 mutants). Ganoderma lucidum can make these viruses inactive and reduce their chances of infecting normal cells.

The author’s Private Words

There are so many viruses that can infect humans, not to mention there are other intruders eyeing covetously. Rather than waiting for the "new vaccine" or "new drug", it is better to work hard to create an alert and flexible immune system.

In practical experience, children infected with enteroviruses and H1N1 can indeed relieve symptoms under the protection of Ganoderma lucidum (even if they are hospitalized with fever, they can jump around, eat and sleep), and quickly return to health. Lingzhi has reassured many parents with the ability to cope with various viruses.
