Information

Reishi, as recorded in the “Compendium of Materia Medica“, cures many diseases. Its functions have been verified and are known to produce miraculous effects.

Today, numerous studies have confirmed that Reishi has a direct or indirect preventive or alleviating effect on various diseases in the human body.

Among them, Reishi's prevention and treatment of abnormal blood lipids, whether it's benefits to blood pressure, blood lipids, or blood vessels, are particularly effective.

According to the "Chinese Guidelines for Lipid Management (2023)", the prevalence of dyslipidemia among adults in China is as high as 35.6%. In addition to improving dietary habits and maintaining regular exercise, incorporating premium Reishi into your regimen could potentially yield unexpected results in managing dyslipidemia.

The beneficial effects of Reishi on vascular health have been documented for some time. Reishi has a medicinal history of over two thousand years in China. As early as in "Shennong's Herbal Classic", it was recorded that Reishi "removes pathogenic factors congealing in the chest and reinforces heart qi". This indicates that Reishi can enter the heart meridian and promote the circulation of Qi and blood.

Reishi contains a variety of active ingredients, including polysaccharides, triterpenoids, sterols, amino acids,  and proteins. It is the interaction of these active ingredients that allows Reishi to exert effects such as lipid reduction, antioxidation, and anti-inflammation.

Modern medical research has confirmed that Reishi can lower blood pressure by inhibiting the sympathetic nervous system and protecting vascular endothelial cells, and it can alleviate myocardial hypertrophy caused by cardiac overload. —— Excerpted from p86 of "Pharmacology and Clinical Applications of Reishi" compiled by Zhibin Lin.

Four benefits of Reishi contributing to lipid health have been confirmed. Research on Reishi and lipid health has been ongoing in recent years. Various research reports indicate that the benefits of Reishi to vascular health are multifaceted. The earlier one consumes Reishi, the earlier one benefits.

1. Regulating Lipids

The Nanjing Institute of Comprehensive Utilization of Wild Plants once published a study, which conducted tests on serum total cholesterol, serum triglycerides, and serum high-density lipoprotein cholesterol by feeding mice with Ganoderma lucidum spore powder. The results showed that Ganoderma lucidum spore powder has the effect of regulating abnormal blood lipids.

2. Regulating Blood Pressure

The Xuzhou Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases once published a study exploring the intervention effect and possible mechanism of Ganoderma lucidum on insulin resistance in patients with primary hypertension. By measuring the changes in biochemical indicators such as G and INS in 42 patients with primary hypertension before and after taking Reishi, it was found that Reishi has the effect of synergistically lowering blood pressure and improving insulin resistance.

3. Blood Sugar Regulation

In July 2018, a research report was published in "Medicines" by Brazilian scholars. The study involved an experiment where the β cells of the islets in rats were destroyed. Subsequently, the rats were administered with Reishi extract. Observations of the rats revealed that the Reishi extract effectively mitigated the symptoms of diabetes, such as weight loss, elevated blood sugar, increased blood lipids, and a higher kidney index. Additionally, it was found to protect the islet β cells.

4. Protecting Myocardium

According to research published by Associate Professor Fan-E Mo of National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, whether feeding normal mice with Reishi extract preparations containing polysaccharides and triterpenes, or injecting ganoderic acids (the main components of Reishi triterpenes) into high-risk mice with easily damaged myocardium, both can effectively prevent myocardial cell necrosis caused by β-adrenergic receptor agonists, preventing damage to the myocardium from affecting heart function. —— Excerpted from p119-122 of "Healing with Ganoderma" compiled by Tingyao Wu.

Prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases still require action. In all things, moderation is the priority, and a peaceful mindset is essential. Daily diet should follow the principles of low salt, low sugar, low fat, and high fruits and vegetables. Coupled with the nourishment of Reishi, your blood vessels will not be in poor condition!
