The "Wuyishan Zhi" compiled during the Daoguang era records: Pengzu, an elderly man from the ancient Tang Yao period, was the founding ancestor of Wuyishan. He “retired to the mountains to nurture his health, consuming herbs and drinking dew.” Because he regularly ate Wuyishan’s lingzhi mushrooms, he lived to be 800 years old (in ancient times, a year consisted of only 60 days; adjusted to modern standards, this would be roughly 128 years). He eventually passed away on a crane, earning him the honor of being revered as the founding ancestor of Chinese health preservation. The secret of Pengzu, the long-lived immortal, for maintaining health through the consumption of lingzhi mushrooms has been passed down by the people of Wuyishan to this day, thus establishing Wuyishan’s reputation as the “Land of Longevity.”
Pengzu Lingzhi originates from the Wuyishan Mountains. For thousands of years, Wuyishan has been the birthplace where wild Lingzhi mushrooms have thrived. Its climate, water sources, soil, and surrounding ecological environment all perfectly align with the natural characteristics of Lingzhi.
