To mark the upcoming 31st National Cancer Prevention and Control Awareness Week, the 6th "Co-Build & Share for Public Health" Charity Initiative, themed "Guarding Life with Reishi’s Support", officially launched at Fuzhou Suburban Park on March 28.

Jointly organized by the Fujian Cancer Rehabilitation Association and the Fujian Edible Fungi Industry Association, and hosted by GanoHerb Group, with support from the Fuzhou Cancer Rehabilitation Association and the Ganoderma Science Branch of Fuzhou Science and Technology Museum, this event aims to disseminate to the public concepts of cancer care and wellness and scientific knowledge on cancer prevention through diverse activities, including nature walks, health-focused hiking, free medical consultations, and interactive science sessions. The event brought together industry experts, representatives from cancer rehabilitation associations, and over a hundred health enthusiasts, while the online livestream reached tens of thousands of viewers.

 

Success in cancer prevention and control hinges on integration; it is imperative to comprehensively enhance public awareness of cancer prevention and management.

 

Today, cancer remains a common and frequently occurring disease that threatens human health. At the launch ceremony, Fang Xi, Secretary-General of the Fujian Cancer Rehabilitation Association, explained that effective cancer prevention and control require an integrated approach—where prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation work together—to establish a collaborative mechanism among medical institutions, social organizations, relevant enterprises, and patient groups. He introduced the "nine guiding approaches" for cancer rehabilitation: initiating with Western medicine, prioritizing Traditional Chinese Medicine, promoting scientific awareness, providing psychological counseling, offering fitness guidance, delivering nutritional counseling, facilitating team-based support, guiding adjunctive therapies, and advocating for health preservation. He concluded that only through such integrated prevention and control can individuals achieve a better quality of life and greater longevity.

As a special guest at the event, Professor Lin Zhibin from the Peking University Health Science Center—who has dedicated over half a century to Reishi research—urged everyone to focus on tumor prevention and enhance their health awareness, collectively building a new Great Wall against cancer. After a group warm-up with Baduanjin, participants headed straight to the suburban park destination. The lush greenery and vibrant blossoms along the way infused everyone with abundant energy!
