Whether "brewing with boiling water" or "brewing with warm water" is better, is a major question for many. To address this, we conducted experiments on the effects of different water temperatures on spore powder, hoping to find the optimal answer.
The impact of different water temperatures on the release of the oil film
Due to the presence of a small amount of spore oil in the spore powder, which is insoluble in water, a layer of oil film will float on the water surface when brewing high-quality spore powder.
We conducted an experiment using the same batch of sporoderm-broken Ganoderma lucidum spore powder. We set four water temperatures: 40°C, 50°C, 60°C, and 90°C, to investigate the impact of different water temperatures on the release of the oil film from the spore powder.

The experiment found that when the temperature is ≤60°C (brewing with warm water), the higher the temperature, the more oil film is observed on the surface of each group. When the temperature is approximately 90°C (close to boiling), the amount of oil film on the surface is basically the same as at 60°C. This indicates that brewing with boiling water does not result in more oil film on the surface than brewing with warm water.
However, after standing for five minutes, the amount of oil film on the surface of each group was basically the same. This indicates that the temperature only affects the speed at which the spore powder releases oil. The final formation of the oil film is not related to the temperature.
The Impact of Different Water Temperatures on Wall Adhesion and Sedimentation
When brewing spore powder, the phenomenon of "wall adhesion and sedimentation" sometimes occurs, affecting our consumption experience.
We conducted an experiment using the same batch of sporoderm-broken Ganoderma lucidum spore powder. We set three water temperatures: 30°C, 60°C, and 90°C, to investigate the impact of different water temperatures on the wall adhesion and sedimentation of the spore powder.

The experiment found that the higher the water temperature, the less likely the spore powder is to exhibit the phenomenon of wall adhesion and sedimentation.
However, in real life, water at 90°C is not suitable for drinking. Therefore, we brewed with water at 90°C and then cooled it to 60°C. The results showed that the phenomenon of wall adhesion and sedimentation was basically the same as when brewing directly with water at 60°C.

The results indicate that the phenomenon of wall adhesion and sedimentation is related to the drinking water temperature. To reduce the occurrence of wall adhesion and sedimentation and achieve a better consumption experience, it is recommended to brew with a higher water temperature that is personally acceptable and to consume it as soon as possible to reduce the wall adhesion and sedimentation of the spore powder.
Conclusion
Whether it is used in ancient medicine or modern production, Ganoderma lucidum undergoes high-temperature treatment, and there is no claim that heat-sensitive nutrients are destroyed.
Considering that the temperature of the mucous membranes on the surface of the human mouth and esophagus is within the range of 36.5°C to 37.2°C, and the highest temperature that the human body can tolerate is only 50°C to 60°C, it is recommended that the drinking temperature for spore powder should be between 40°C and 60°C.
It is recommended to brew the spore powder with warm water between 40°C and 60°C.
Ganoderma lucidum spore powder that has been mixed with water should be consumed as soon as possible. If left exposed to the air for too long, not only will it settle and affect consumption, but it is also prone to oxidation, greatly reducing its nutritional value!
