For preventing illness due to qi deficiency, try a bowl of reishi mushroom soup.

In April, when the body's resistance tends to weaken, it’s important to strengthen the care of the spleen and stomach, ensuring they remain healthy and free from dampness. Ganoderma lucidum has a neutral nature and can tonify both the spleen and stomach. Moreover, enoki mushrooms have the effects of nourishing the liver and benefiting the gastrointestinal tract. Regular consumption of this medicinal diet can enhance the body’s immune system and alleviate symptoms such as poor appetite, high cholesterol, and heaviness with swelling in the limbs—conditions often associated with weak spleen and stomach function.

Ingredients

GanoHerb Organic Purple Reishi Tablets 10 grams
Enoki mushroom 100 grams
Bean sprouts 150 grams
Ginger 2 slices
Lean meat 200 grams

How to do it

1.       Place the GanoHerb organic purple reishi slices into a pot, add water, bring to a boil, and set aside.

2.       Slice the lean meat and coat it with starch. Then, thinly slice the ginger and set it aside.

3.       Take a frying pan, add an appropriate amount of oil, heat it up, and then stir-fry the ginger strips, bean sprouts, and enoki mushrooms. Next, pour in the previously prepared reishi mushroom broth, cover the pan, and bring the liquid to a boil over medium heat.

4.       Open the lid, add the prepared lean meat, and continue to simmer with the lid on for a while. Just before serving, season to taste with an appropriate amount of salt and chicken powder according to your preference. Finally, sprinkle some chopped green onions on top and serve in a bowl.

Cooking Tips

1. The pork belly meat has a bit of fat; when sliced and briefly blanched in hot soup, it has a tender texture.
2. Once the water in the pot comes to a boil again after adding the enoki mushrooms, add the sliced meat. Cook until done, then remove from the pot. Neither ingredient should be cooked for too long—overcooking will negatively affect their texture.
